Categories: Alliance activities focus on innovation in professional museum education and international collaboration, promoting faculty/student mobility and resource sharing among members. Specific categories include:
(1) IATMU Annual Meeting & Academic Symposium
(2) Online Sharing and Co-development of Teaching Resources
(3) Summer Schools
(4) Development of Digital Teaching Platforms for Museum Studies
Organization: Activities are coordinated by the IATMU Secretariat. Temporary working groups will be formed with personnel assigned by member institutions based on the nature and requirements of each activity.
Working Groups: The Alliance has initially established three working groups: Object-Based Learning, Digital Curation, Professional Capacity Enhancement. These groups are led by member institutions and will gradually carry out activities through their respective working groups. Among them, the Professional Capacity Enhancement group has been initiated by the University of Hong Kong and Sichuan University, with Shandong University and Jilin University already joining as members.
Joint Research Projects: The International Alliance for Teaching Museology in University (IATMU) will launch joint research initiatives in January 2025, focusing on critical areas including museum collection research and management, exhibition planning and design, and the application of emerging technologies in museums.
(1)UNESCO International High-Level Forum on Museums (April 2025, Hangzhou)
The Alliance will prepare to present its work and engage with global stakeholders at this forum, highlighting its contributions to museum education and international collaboration.
(2)ICOM Dubai Conference Collaboration Session (November 2025)
During the ICOM Conference in Dubai, the Alliance will co-host a special session focusing on global partnership development. Additionally, Alliance President Zhao Feng will stand for re-election to the ICOM Executive Committee during the conference.
2024
November 23-24: The Alliance Inauguration Ceremony and 2024 International University Symposium on Professional Museum Education were held at the Museum of Art and Archaeology, Zhejiang University. The theme was Innovating University-Based Museum Education for the Future, addressing cutting-edge issues in global museum professional development.

University College London will host the International Symposium on Professional Museum Education.
