About Us →

A century of scholarship in art and archaeology

The School of Art and Archaeology is one of the few places where the making of art, the study of the past, and the care of cultural heritage are pursued side by side. Its four departments—archaeology, art history, fine arts, and design—share classrooms, laboratories, and a museum of their own, so that ideas move freely between the excavation site, the studio, the gallery, and the digital lab. Students learn among original objects and the methods that reveal them, from a Tang-dynasty scroll to a 3D-scanned grotto.

Rooted in tradition and open to the world, the School of Art and Archaeology invites scholars, artists, and students everywhere to explore how art and the past are made, kept, and understood.
